Solitaire is also known as Klondike Solitaire.
There are several variations. The main difference is the number of cards dealt from the Stock to the Waste Pile at a time. This variation deals three cards each time. One card Klondike deals a single card from the Stock to the Waste Pile.
I was brought up with single card Solitaire. I'm guessing that your preferred version of Solitaire or the one that you learnt, depends on where you grew up.
The rules are identical to playing single card Klondike. The sole difference is as mentioned above, and is that a single card at a time is dealt from the Stock Pile.
